14-15 Reading Series

By Inis Nua Theatre (other events)

3 Dates Through Mar 23, 2015

ABOUT ABOUT

Get a sneek peak at what we are considering producing next year. The reading series presents staged readings of plays that we would love to see on our stage in the near future. Come for the performacne and stay for the discussion. Artistic staff and performers will host a post-performance discussion where you get to tell us what you think. Be a part of the process!

Pests by Vivienne Franzmann,  November 17

Two sisters from a grim pocket of London negotiate their relationship with each other amidst a bleak personal landscape of drug addiction, prison time, childhood sexual abuse and mental illness.

Spine by Clara Brennan January 12

Meet Amy, an average teenager from working-class Willesden with poor grades and even poorer prospects. When she begins cleaning the house of an intelligent and strong-willed old woman, Amy discovers a love of books, knowledge and self. Brennan’s play tackles the issues of austerity, unaffordable education, gender inequality and imbalanced political representation in this tender one-woman play.

Both at 7pm at the Off-Broad Street Theater.

Bonus: As a special treat, we will be prsenting a staged reading of a play that has influenced the playwrights we produce. Tom Murphy's 1961 play A Whistle In The Dark explores the roots of violence in Ireland and the eternal conflict between child and father. March 23rd at 7pm at the Off-Broad Street Theater.

Each reading is $10. Mix and match or see them all,
